E Model Nigeria Modeling Tips for New and Upcoming Models

New Models

*Where to start when taking your first modeling steps*

As an aspiring model (new face), there are basic steps
that you should take into consideration before
starting. The first important step is to know your
goals. You should know what kind modeling you want
to do and how big a part you want modeling to play in
your life. When you know this, it’s much easier to get
started.

When you are ready to embark on your journey
towards modeldom, you should make sure that you
have read enough about modeling and that you know
what to expect. There are various sources available
online for new models that tell more about modeling
in general, the different types of modeling you can
do, where and how to start and who to contact.

As you are doing your research, take some time to find
a list of modeling agencies you could contact. This is
an important step as by now you should know how to
choose a modeling agency that best matches the kind
of modeling you want to do. If the modeling agencies
of your choice are in a close proximate to where you
are located, why not pay a visit to the agency in
person. That’s the best way to get a much clearer and
more informed picture of the type of agency you are
dealing with.

When you feel confident about the modeling agencies
you have found, you should either start calling them
or contacting them by email. And this is where photos
come in. As an aspiring model, one of your main tasks
is to arrange a photo shoot with a reliable model
photographer. You want to project a good and
professional image of yourself and for that reason it is
important to focus on the quality of your photos.

E Model Nigeria @1E_Models has designed it's exclusive
Photo Sessions especially for the purpose of giving a
model the right kind of professional photos to show to
agencies. If you are unable to have photos taken by a
professional model photographer, you could also
consider selecting some quality pictures that you
already have of yourself.
Another effective way of getting exposure as a new
model, you could try to find a source on the internet
that could list your information and pictures. You
should consider listing with one or more websites that
offer these kinds of online services for models.
Websites, such as melodyworldent.blogspot.com, provide an
excellent way of getting started as a new model, as
they offer a great platform for getting connected with
the right industry professionals. It's free to sign up to
on melodyworldent.blogspot.com, and if you want even more
exposure to boost your chances further you can
upgrade your account.

To reach many agencies very quickly, create your
profile on melodyworldent.blogspot.com and contact them
directly. Don't confuse modeling platforms like
melodyworldent.blogspot.com with model agencies, they are
not. Melodyworldent.blogspot.com gives models exposure via
a massive database of connections so the models can
find agencies and photographers to further the
models' careers. It also gives models a stylish place to
show their photos much like having a personal
website. Agencies will represent new models and
then take charge of the models' professional career,
as the model will then be contracted to that agency.

You should not have to pay an agency to be
considered as one of their models, as they will make
their money from a percentage of the models future
jobs. It is very important to be informed of this before
you start the process of contacting modeling agencies.
As long as your goals are set from the very onset of
your modeling career, you should have a much clearer
and more secure picture of what you should know as
an aspiring, new model. And should you encounter
rejection, do not give up. All new models experience
rejection at one point or another. It is just a fact of
the business. So stick to your goals, work hard and
start connecting with the right people in order to
make your dream of being a model into a reality.

8000 Boko Haram Members Voluntarily Surrendered – Military

The Nigerian Military on Tuesday in Abuja said
that no fewer than 8000 Boko Haram members
had voluntarily surrendered to its “Operation
Safe Corridor” in the North-East.
The Director of Defence Information, Brig.-Gen.
Rabe Abubakar disclosed this at a lecture
organised by the FCT Correspondents’ Chapel of
the National Union of Journalists (NUJ).
The lecture with the theme, “Media-Military
Relationship in the Fight against Insurgency”, was
part of the activities marking the 2016 Press Week
of the chapel.
Abubakar said that the surrendered insurgents
were in a camp in Gombe waiting to be
“deradicalised’’ by the military.
The general also disclosed that more than 10,000
Boko Haram captives had been rescued by the
military.
He said some of them were reunited with their
families, while others were taken to Internally
Displaced Person’s (IDP) camps.
Abubakar said that Boko Haram had been
successfully decimated by the military and
government was working hard on the
rehabilitation of the victims and reconstruction of
the affected areas.
The general also said that the military would soon
launch “Operation Safe Corridor” to address the
menace of herdsmen across the country.
He assured that the military operation would put
an end to the wanton killings by the herdsmen.
Responding to questions on the recent action by
the military declaring some journalists wanted,
the general urged the media not to allow
sentiments to influence their judgment on the
issue.
He said the military should be allowed to do its
work while assuring that no member of the media
would be victimised unnecessarily.
Abubakar said that good military-media
relationship was crucial to winning the war
against insurgency.
He said the media drove public support for the
military which in turn had boosted the morale of
officers and the rank and file.
Earlier, the Secretary of NUJ in FCT, Hajia Rafat
Salami, said there was the need for the military
and the media to work together in the fight
against terrorism and other crimes.
She said the military must see the media as
partner in progress and not as enemy.
The Chairman of the Correspondents Chapel,
Raphael Ekpang, thanked the general for finding
time out of his tight schedule to share his
thoughts on the topic.

South Africa Dethrones Nigeria As Africa’s Biggest Economy

South Africa has regained the title of Africa’s
largest economy, two years after Nigeria rebased
its economy to claim the spot, according to IMF
data.
A recalculation using current exchange rates put
South Africa on top because the rand has
strengthened against the dollar, BBC News
reports.
Nigeria’s currency has fallen sharply since a peg
to the dollar was dropped.
Nigeria rebased its economy in 2014 to include
previously uncounted industries like telecoms,
information technology, music, online sales,
airlines, and film production.
Most countries do rebasing, updating the measure
of the size of the economy, at least every three
years or so, but Nigeria had not updated the
components in its GDP base year since 1990.
On the basis of these numbers, there’s not a lot
between the two. South Africa’s economy is
worth around $301bn (£232bn) and Nigeria comes
in at $296bn.
The exercise in calculating the numbers using
last year’s IMF figures and this year’s currency
exchange numbers, technically puts South Africa
back on top.
But look behind the league table and the light-
hearted jostling about who has the largest
economy in Africa and things, economically
speaking, are a little bleaker.
Both economies contracted in the first quarter.
Another contraction and they’ll both be in
recession.
Nigeria is almost entirely dependent on its oil
exports. And as the price of oil slumps so does
the flow of petrodollars coming into the country’s
coffers. South Africa’s economy is more diverse.
Indeed, after Nigeria knocked it off the top spot
two years ago, we started describing it as
“Africa’s most industrialised economy”, rather
than Africa second-largest economy.
But economic growth is unlikely to make it above
1% in South Africa this year and many, including
the country’s Reserve Bank, are forecasting it at
zero.
Unemployment remains stubbornly high and a
credit rating review is looming at the end of the
year.
If the whole “largest economy in Africa”
competition was a horse race, the two leading
contenders would be virtually neck and neck.
But they wouldn’t be galloping, they’d be
trotting at best. And looking increasingly tired
and in need of sustenance.

Solomon Dalung Responds To The Report That Mikel Paid $4000 To Free Squad After Hotel Officials Delayed Them Over Bills

John Mikel Obi reportedly paid $4000 to free the
Olympic football squad after the team was held
to ransom by hotel officials in Sao Paulo over bills
incurred by additional NFF officials. The Minister
of Sports and Youth Development, Solomon
Dalung, has denied the report through a
statement released on the Minister’s official
Facebook page and signed by Nneka Ikem-
Anibeze, his Special Adviser on Media .The
statement read;
The attention of the Ministry of Youth and
Sports has again been drawn to the news that
Team Nigeria’s Captain John Mikel Obi paid
hotel bills accruing from the 8 unaccredited
players and officials in Rio with the National
U-23 team.
According to the Minister of Youth and Sports
Barrister Solomon Dalung, the chief coach of the
team Samson Siasia in company of another official
had come knocking on his door at about 4am Sao
Paolo time.
“Siasia was in my room early this morning and
said the hotel security had refused to allow the
team leave the hotel due to unpaid hotel bills.
I also lodged in the same hotel with the
Permanent Secretary and other members of
the National Assembly who came to watch the
match against Columbia. I told him to add the
bill to the permanent Secretary’s bill so that
he can clear it alongside other bills. The
amount incurred by the excess officials and
players is $4,600. When we checked out of the
hotel, the money was added and the
Permanent Secretary paid all outstanding bills.
I am surprised to hear and read that Mikel Obi
saved an embarrassing situation by paying the
bills” Dalung stated.
The Minister also restated that 8 unofficially
accredited persons have been following the team
since they left Atlanta including 4 players and 4
officials. The organizers of the games, the
International Olympic Committee are only
responsible for 25 accredited players and officials
including feeding, flights and accommodation.
“In Manaus, we were forced to pay camp
allowances to the extra 4 players making 29. As
we speak now, the Nigeria Football Federation
is the only federation that does not have a
single board member on ground. Not even the
Secretary-General is here. So, it is really
unfortunate that this is happening. We have
paid all players and other athletes their first 11
days in camp and the payment of the rest of
the days will commence today( Friday). We
want to plead with the players to shelve all
actions capable of distracting them from their
upcoming game on Saturday against Denmark
and channel all grievances through the
appropriate route. We remain committed to the
welfare of all our athletes in camp as we look
forward to giving them our unhindered
support” Dalung reassured.

Breaking News!! Nnamdi Kanu Finally Agrees Dialogue With Buhari’s FG To End Agitation

Detained leader of the Indigenous People of
Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, has announced that
he is open to negotiations with the federal
government to end the agitation for secession of
the people of Biafra from Nigeria.
Kanu made this declaration through his lawyers
led by Ifeanyi Ejiofor and Amoebi Nzelu, in a press
briefing in Abuja on Friday.
“Nnamdi Kanu is not averse to political solution in
resolving his present politically orchestrated
ordeal.
“He welcomes genuine political solution to this
case. Nnamdi Kanu has people of proven integrity
and impeccable character that will negotiate on
his behalf, based on his demands when
communication on this effect is established,” one
of the lawyers said.
Meanwhile, the lawyers have debunked the
claims by the Niger Delta Avengers (NDA) and the
Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta
(MEND), who have both named the self acclaimed
Biafra leader as part of their conditions for
negotiations.
“It is on that note that we wish to inform the
general public that Nnamdi Kanu has no
connection, contact, ties or any kind of
relationship with members of the MEND,” the
lawyers said.
“Mend has no implied, direct or express authority
of Nnamdi Kanu to represent him or IPOB in any
purported negotiation going on between mend
and the federal government.”
Recall that Mr. Kanu and two others, Benjamin
Madubugwu and David Nwawuisi, who have been
in detention since October, 2015, are standing
trial on a six-count charge of treasonable felony,
managing unlawful society and concealing goods.
At the last hearing, the lead prosecution counsel
was absent in court, and the case was adjourned
to September 26 – 29, 2016.

“I Am The Best Musician In Nigeria” Jesse Jagz Boasts

Not many artists in the country will be pleased
to hear this, but rapper Jesse Jagz has declared
himself and his brother MI, the best quality
musicians in Nigeria.
In an interview with a popular Nigerian website,
The former Chocolate City record label artiste
boasted about how he and his brother are on a
different level from other artists in Nigeria.
“Me and M.I combined, there’s no bloody
musician, I don’t care who your father is, that can
be better combined and artistically” He said.
“How we rap is very different. M.I is very witty on
a different level. You want to hear somebody
rhyme with eight rhyme patterns, that’s why I’m
here. Jagz is the person.”
Do you agree with Jesse Jags?

GOOD NEWS: NOUN Set To Replace Textbooks With Tablet Computers

The National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN)
is working toward producing its course materials
as tablet computers rather than textbooks, its
Vice-Chancellor, Professor Abdalla Adamu, has
said.
Adamu disclosed this while receiving Irina
Bokova, United Nations Educational, Scientific
and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) Director-
General, who paid him a courtesy call on
Thursday in Abuja.
According to him, the largest area of support that
UNESCO gives to NOUN is the Open Education
Resource (OER).
“The OER is an online repository of a huge
number of resources in education and the
beauty of it is that they are free and anybody
can access them.
When NOUN eventually matures to a package
called iNOUN, we will produce our materials as
tablets rather than as textbooks.
Virtually all the OERs will be downloaded on
the tablet so that people will take them along
wherever they are.
They do not need to have internet access in
order to have access to OER; this is one area
that UNESCO has been extremely dynamic and
helping us to acquire,” Adamu said.
He said that OER was a part of the equity drive of
both NOUN and UNESCO in order to make sure
that people around the world had access to
quality education at no cost.
The vice-chancellor said that NOUN was
networked to OER and UNESCO in order to provide
thousands of Nigerians with an opportunity to
have access to quality education materials free of
charge.
According to him, one of the OERs the institution
is running at the moment is the History and
Philosophy Science.
He said that one major challenge confronting
NOUN was that the public was not well-informed
on the validity of Open and Distance Learning
(ODL).
Adamu appealed to UNESCO to assist in projecting
and spreading the gospel of ODL as a veritable
tool for university education in the 21st century.
The vice-chancellor said that NOUN had provided
scholarships to prisoners and was focusing on
Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs), petty traders,
artisans, commercial drivers among others.
Responding, Bokova applauded NOUN for its
passionate support education and social inclusion.
She said that NOUN represented everything in
the mandate of the SDG4 – Equality, Education for
all, reaching the unreached and distant and
marginalised.
“You are involved in achieving the SDG4 in all
its ramifications. You cannot achieve excellence
in vocational education without higher
education.
We need to stimulate Research, Science,
Technology and Innovation; we need to train
teachers.
You have plenty of energy and we will continue
to support you,” she said.
NAN reports that Bokova, the first woman to lead
the UNESCO, is in Nigeria for a three-day working
visit.
Bokova, a Hungarian, was elected UNESCO
Director-General in 2009 and re-elected for a
second-term in 2015.

Nigeria Is Still Africa’s Number One Economy – Dangote

Despite the widely reported story yesterday that
South Africa had overtaken Nigeria as Africa’s
biggest economy, the continent’s richest man;
Aliko Dangote has averred that Nigeria remains
the number one economy in Africa.
The president of the Dangote Group spoke on
Thursday at the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and
Industry 2016 presidential policy dialogue session,
arguing that the problem with the economy did
not start with the present administration.
After over two years in the position, Nigeria lost
the enviable position to South Africa owing to the
appreciation of the rand, South Africa’s currency,
and the devaluation of the Nigerian naira
following the introduction of a flexible foreign
exchange rate regime. However, Dangote was
resolute that Nigeria’s place in the African
economy has not yet been overtaken.

“I Am A Militant” – Oshiomhole Declares

Gov. Adams Oshiomhole says for any government
to make progress, it must maintain a national
minimum wage.
Oshiomhole said this in Abuja on Wednesday
during a forum tagged ‘The Podium’, organised by
The Kukah Centre in collaboration with the Ford
Foundation.
The programme, which seeks an interface
between the electorate and policy makers, had
the theme: “From Activism to Political Power:
The Challenges of Democratic Governance in
Nigeria”.
According to Oshiomhole, a labourer is worthy of
his wages, meaning if an employer is owing, he is
breaching a contract.
“’This is where I’m different. I still insist any
government who wants to be taken seriously
must have a national minimum wage.
“We must maintain a national minimum wage,
look for ways to increase it; that is what I still
advocate for.”
Giving an informal account of his stewardship and
why he carried out most of his actions, the
governor said he stayed true to his activism years
by not owing salaries.
He explained that as a former factory worker
himself, he understood the importance of wages
and that was why he increased workers salaries in
Edo by 38 per cent.
“Activism is not synonymous with being
progressive. I believe we should all be idealistic
and not dismiss the possibility of an ideal society.
“One man’s idealism is another man’s reality.
Wages paid to people is not burden.
“In Edo we increased it to 38 per cent and I’m
proud to still pay before the last day of every
month.”
He explained that complaints about salaries from
the state were mostly about the 18 months
pension arrears he inherited and the inability of
local governments to pay their staff.
“We respect the autonomy of the Local
Government but we insisted that if they cannot
do environmental sanitation, waste management,
grading rural roads, cleaning up the market at
least you must pay the teachers’ salaries.
“So I am not responsible for non-payment at that
level. Non-payment of wages is a criminal breach
in the law of contract.
“You can pay daily, weekly, monthly but not in
excess of 30 days, you are breaching the
agreement.”
Oshiomhole said as an activist he was in
governance to know the ropes, know how to help
people and counter concepts like god-fatherism
in politics.
“I have been militant, will remain a militant and
retire a militant not with guns. I don’t burst
pipelines but we must react to sayings like the ‘if
you can’t beat them join them’.”
The Chairman of the occasion, former Gov. Donald
Duke of Rivers, said he advocates improvement in
society.
“Sadly politicians in our society are merely
jobbers and budget padders. We advocate
improvement and not change.
“We had a violent change in 1966, so change is
not necessarily the way to go. Improvements
however makes things happen, develops societies
and affects the people positively.”
Bishop Mathew Kukah, the Convener of the
event, said the essence of the forum was to
design programmes that encourage debate and
free exchange of ideas.
“To serve as a mediating platform between the
government, citizens and communities.
“Also, to enhance the quality of leadership
training at all levels both in the public and non-
governmental sectors.”
Activists from all sectors and relevant
stakeholders attended the event.

Nigeria Loses Africa’s Biggest Economy Position To South Africa

South Africa’s economy regained the position of
Africa’s largest in dollar terms more than two
years after losing it to Nigeria as the value of the
nations’ currencies moved in opposite directions.
Based on gross domestic product at the end of
2015 published by the International Monetary
Fund, the size of South Africa’s economy is $301
billion at the rand’s current exchange rate, while
Nigeria’s GDP is $296 billion.
That’s after the rand gained more than 16
percent against the dollar since the start of 2016,
and Nigeria’s naira lost more than a third of its
value after the central bank bank removed a
currency peg in June.
Both nations face the risk of a recession after
contracting in the first quarter of the year.
The Nigerian economy shrank by 0.4 percent in
the three months through March from a year
earlier amid low oil prices and output and
shortage of foreign currency.
That curbed imports, including fuel. In South
Africa, GDP contracted by 0.2 percent from a year
earlier as farming and mining output declined.
Alan Cameron, an economist at Exotix Partners
LLP, said: “More than the growth outlook, in the
short term the ranking of these economies is
likely to be determined by exchange rate
movements.”
Although, Nigeria is unlikely to be unseated as
Africa’s largest economy in the long run, “the
momentum that took it there in the first place is
now long gone.”
The South African rand rallied as investors turned
to emerging markets with liquid capital markets
to seek returns after Britain voted to leave the
European Union on June 23, even as the central
bank forecast the economy won’t expand this
year and the nation risks losing its investment-
grade credit rating.
The ruling African National Congress’s lowest
support since 1994 in the Aug. 3 local government
vote led to further gains on speculation that it
will pressure the party to introduce economic
reforms that will boost growth and cut
unemployment.
In Nigeria, investors didn’t flock to buy naira-
based assets after authorities removed the peg of
197-199 naira per dollar.
The Central Bank of Nigeria raised its benchmark
interest rate to a record in July to lure foreign
money, even as the IMF forecast the economy will
contract 1.8 percent this year.
Nigeria was assessed as the continent’s largest
economy in April 2014 when authorities in the
West African nation overhauled their GDP data for
the first time in two decades.
The recalculation saw the Nigerian economy in
2013 expand by three-quarters to an estimated 80
trillion naira.
The rand weakened 0.4 percent to 13.3323 per
dollar at 7:56 a.m. in Johannesburg on Thursday,
ending three days of gains.
The naira dropped 0.4 percent to 321.50 per
dollar, heading for a record low on a closing basis.

Breaking News: Nigeria Should Still Watch Out For Ebola, Lassa Fever

Concerned that Africa, particularly Nigeria, is still
vulnerable to emerging epidemics such as the
Ebola Virus Disease, Lassa fever, Zika virus and
others, a public health expert based in the
United States, Dr. Babajide Sadiq, has warned
that government at all levels must introduce
adequate steps to prevent a re-occurrence.
Sadiq, who is currently the Health Equity
Epidemiologist for the State of Texas, said he had
developed a strategy called the Evidence-Based
Model that would assist the country in checking
disease outbreaks.
He said, “The Evidence Based Model in public
health is what they use in developed countries. It
involves employing the disease surveillance
system in Nigeria, data collection and the
healthcare management system. Following the
absence of a proper health data system in
Nigeria, my team and I want to design a good one.
“If we have the model in place, we would have
adequate information on certain diseases,
epidemics and the region or persons who are
most vulnerable to contracting it. Our plan is to
run the programme for two to three years in
Nigeria.”
Working in partnership with the Bill Gates
Foundation and similar non-governmental
organisations, Sadiq, who is also the co-founder of
Genii ‘Geniuses’ Associates, a global health
consulting outfit, said the research would start in
communities and rural areas of the country.
Sadiq said Nigeria was chosen to execute the
project due to its laudable efforts in checking the
EVD. He called on Nigerian scientists in the
Diaspora to contribute their quota to the health
sector.
“I have worked for the Centre for Disease Control
and I have managed over 10 million data sets in
Florida. But if everybody keeps saying they don’t
want to come back home, who is going to fix the
problem?
“The reports from the World Health Organisation
about developing countries are not favourable.
There are always cases of cholera, malaria,
diarrhoea and so on. I have my family members
who live in Nigeria and if somebody calls me to
say that someone is knocked down by any of
these diseases, it would affect me
psychologically. I’m working with some experts
with over 35 years’ experience.”
The scientist said the organisation was set to
convene a health summit in December, which will
focus on the management and prevention of
disease outbreaks.
“This conference will enable experts from
different countries to exchange ideas on how to
detect epidemic, how to develop our capacity for
rapid diagnosis and how we can develop our
capacity for rapid case detection.
“Other aims include contact tracing, disease
surveillance, biosecurity and biosafety, detecting
biological trace, vaccine strategy and preventive
measures,” Sadiq added.
